So you have no idea how the Air Fiber works then.

I do have an idea on its basics. That it requires high-frequency wireless ranges and clear lines of sight to deliver fiber-like speeds. It's just that I'm biased against fixed wireless access because the two telcos' past rollouts of such were mediocre at best. It also doesn't sound like Dito is going to utilize the higher frequency mmWave version of 5G for their rollout.

clear line of sight will be a problem, especially in the metro.

I think they will heavily invest in the provinces.

The problem with Smart and Globe is that they did not control the number of users with respect to the number of cell sites.

Benta lang nang benta ng SIM cards...

Unlike LTE, 5G has way more bandwidth to handle home broadband. I for one transitioned to 5G at home. From PLDT 3k a month to 299 a month on Smart 5G rocket wifi. 500-600Mbps average unlimited data.

Dito 5G will be a nice addition. More options for everyone.

^Yeah... I'm contemplating into switching as well (currently on Globe Fibr 125Mbps).

    5G CPE Modem/Router + Parabolic Antenna + Rocket SIM = 300-500Mbps.

The modem/router is about 30K... Antenna is about 2.5K... Rocket SIM would be 499/month... It would be costly if you look at it straight, but it would be a lot of savings in the long run.

@jayparalejas - that 299/month you mentioned, is that unlimited on both speed and data?

^Upload speeds are kinda left behind though... average I've seen is 30-40Mbps.

I'm also looking at possible causes of downtimes (bad weather? system maintenance? someone blew up the tower?)

Been through several typhoons and brown outs. With the smart 5g rocket wifi i get 17-20 hours of continous use from its battery.

For the upload speed it averages 40-80mbps. Which is good but not at par with fiber of course.

    Fine for my needs.

I bought mine at their lazmall store. 16k SRP. Used vouchers less 2k.

even at 16K its a steal for the hardware you get.

There are lots of 5G modems out there. China Unicom at 9-10k, Oppo at 18-20k

    @jayparalejas - thanks for confirming...

I now wonder what the difference is between 299, 499 and 599 :) Btw, Impressive speeds you got there.

Can you bridge that into a 3rd party router? - say for a home mesh setup?

Maybe I'm trying to read too much into this.

The parabolic antenna can be used when there is no 5G in your area?
    Pero meron someplace "near" ?

"The parabolic antenna can be used when there is no 5G in your area?" - this is hard to say / answer with a yes or no... it depends.

In your case, since you said "Pero meron someplace "near" ?" --- you should get a signal boost. More signal = a more stable connection / better connectivity = faster speeds.
