Mm...expressvpn is the easiest VPN to install vs. Getflix VPN. The app allows you to easily switch between VPN connection and non-VPN connection. This is crucial because VPN connection has a speed penalty. In my case, my 170 Mbps Download goes down to around 50 to 75 Mbps (sometimes less) once I toggle expressvpn switch (app-based for convenience so no tinkering with DNS settings of your router). This: 1. Express vpn is easy to use, easy to install and unblocks Disney + here in the PH. Getflix (cheaper) also unblocks Disney but setup and switching from vpn to non-vpn is more complicated. So, to start, subscribe to expressvpn to access disney and other us streaming services. 2. For subscription payment to Disney+, I also use iTunes gift card purchased from Amazon (code gets emailed within minutes and loaded and redeemed to my 2008-created iTunes US account for hassle-free subscription payment). To redeem the gift card, go to: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201209 Step by Step: 1. Subscribe to ExpressVPN. Payment via credit card or Paypal. Create user credentials. 2. Install ExpressVPN app from the app store. 3. Log-in your credentials and activate VPN connection using the app. 4. Download Disney + app from app store. 4. Create your user credential. 5. Subscribe using your iTunes account (preloaded with iTunes gift card). 6. As an alternative, use a US-based credit card. 7. Log in Disney+ account. Notes: you can cancel Disney + anytime. Go to Subscription under iOS settings ( click on your avatar). For expressvpn, they have a 30 day money back guarantee. Cancel recurring payment under account settings and request through email cancellation in order to refund your payment. VPN or virtual private network courses your data from your devices to the servers of expressvpn and expressvpn servers connects you to the US streaming service. It fools US streaming services into thinking that your devices are physically located in the US or other countries. It is the backdoor. hth.
If I correctly understood docjbr's post, he's looking to have his whole "home" be able to access the service. But just to point out to @docjbr the distinction that what raypin described above requires VPN setup on individual devices. It will work on PCs/Macs, Android, and iOS devices. However, it may not work on many STBs or smart TVs that aren't running Android or iOS.
mm...not familiar with non-Apple devices as it pertains to Disney+. Same with smart tv (I don’t use). My devices are all Apple. I have no idea what doc has in terms of his inventory of streamers/devices/ smart TV. For whole home coverage, set-up is still per device.
I must've played the album at least 5x on Spotify... once while reading the lyrics on Apple Genius. I have watched the movie three times since. There's so much things to unpack.... the history, the characters.... the tech (sound, music, lights). You could probably watch it again and again and still discover fresh nuances each time. That's besides that fact that it's still so relevant now, 200 years after the events transpired.
FYI ExpressVPN DNS also works with Disney+. You can just configure the DNS settings for ExpressVPN and use that on your device like AppleTV. Or you can configure them in your router to automatically use the ExpressVPN DNS. It doesn't work on all devices though.
The last time I was in New York, I remember joining the Broadway Lottery everyday for 2 weeks to get a chance to win Hamilton tickets, as the regular tickets were out of my budget. My itinerary that time had a 'Hamilton-footnote' - in case I win the Hamilton lottery, I cancel all itinerary the rest of the day. This includes meet-ups with friends and family, or even paid attractions. I was even willing to travel back to New York when I stayed over a relative's house in New Jersey. I didn't win the Hamilton lottery, but I won other broadway lotteries. A great experience. Now, there's this. Thank you Disney+ for the Hamilton Movie!
Mm....setting up express vpn for the Apple TV (set-top box) is a complicated affair. Not recommended. I am using Getflix (lifetime subscription) instead for my VPN when using ATV. Just change the DNS to manual and input the DNS numbers and restart Apple TV. It unblocks Disney+, Hulu, HBO Now (not HBO Max), Sling TV etc.
I did the same thing when we were in NJ/NY last year. I downloaded the Hamilton app which alerts you when the lottery opens for tickets to the next day's show. Unfortunately, luck wasn't on my side. Happy that Disney+ did this. Saw it the other night and felt really "biting" by the confining screen size. Would've really been great to catch it live. Nevertheless, it was a great overall production, although I got somewhat lost in some parts of the story (not too familiar with American history in general). Lin-Manuel is a genius, honestly.
Yes Getflix does work for Disney+ on the Apple TV, but the problem with Getflix is that the video quality isn't stable. I have a 100 Mbps Fibr connection but a 4K or Full HD stream keeps dropping to SD occasionally. That's why I watch the 4K HDR titles on an Android TV where ExpressVPN is installed. No video quality drops.
Welcome to the Hamilton rabbit hole my friend. I have seen Hamilton 2x in NYC (2015-2016), once in Chicago (2017) and once in LA (2018). And now I have seen the movie 12x since it came out last week (...but who's counting?). There are so many details and nuances to get into after you see it live. Watching the ensemble on the sidelines and the cast up on the deck. The whole musical is a sensory overload when you see it live. But seeing the movie in 4K HDR is a different experience on its own. Although you are restricted to the framing the director wants you to see, it is great for tight close ups to see emotions and beads of tears, sweat and LAWAY on the cast. I thought the movie was intimate while the actual musical was a hip hop party.
Hamilton was unfortunately under my radar until I saw Adam Savage's mini-documentaries about the production's behind-the-scenes props and tech, just a mere few months ago. Too bad Adam didn't cover the stage lighting (which is what gives the characters and the whole stage its life), as well as the double concentric stage turntable.
