    You might want to try out TextWrangler from Bare Bones Software. Very capable program with all the features of TextEdit and then some (a lot some). It's free!

    debstar, did your husband do it accidentally? it's weird coz i woke up one day and realised my text edit was gone and there is no way i trashed it... :p
