I just found a dead pixel on my almost 2-week old MBP (as of this writing). I actually just noticed it when I replaced my default wallpaper into a lighter-colored one. I think I'm just being anal about it but could this still be replaced though? Anyway, I bought this unit at Digital Hub Forbestown so I'll bring it there ASAP and try to see what they can do... Damn this feels awful especially when you bought your MBP out of your own hard earned cash..
Ah, sorry to hear that. I can understand wanting your hardware to be perfect especially when you paid so much for it. I'm sure Digital Hub can help you out. Please keep us updated about your saga. Good luck!!!
I sure will. Thanks! Although on a related note, my friend has one dead pixel on her MBP which she bought from Power Mac in Greenbelt and they wouldn't replace it cause it was just one pixel. I guess it still won't hurt to try.
There was a leaked Apple memo regarding dead pixel policy. Although, I recommend calling or going to the service center just to be sure.
Thanks for that! I was actually up all night last night researching about pixel anomalies. Right now I'm kind of starting to get used to it.
^You can find a number of websites that offer free tests for determining pixel problems. Please note that dead pixels are different from stuck pixels
Update: They'll run it through Apple SG and see if they can replace my screen. I asked if there was hope in replacing the entire unit but they said there was none. So anyway, I'll be waiting for DH Vmall's message if I can have my screen replaced with one dead pixel. But in any case, I don't give a f anymore cause I decided to suck it up and live with it since I'm getting used to its existence anyway.
Sorry to hear that, but yeah, the best thing you can do as for now is to go directly to the shop from where you bought it, and ask if they can do something about the dead pixel. If you didnt do any wrong for the dead pixel to appear, then i think they would rather replace it for a new unit, hopefully. Goodluck!
I think they would've replaced this if it was still within the 7-day replacement period. But sadly I saw the dead pixel past that. Well, I still love my MBP though. Haha.
UPDATE: -Apple agreed to replace the display on my MBP 13" free-of-charge -Deposited the unit on Dec. 24 and said it would take up to 3 weeks -Jan. 9 the unit was already available for pickup -Picked it up today and saw the display clean as a whistle. Hooray for Apple and hooray for me!
with that experience of yours, apple after sales service never really ceases to amaze me. Congrats!!!
I was not so lucky. I bought a 15" mac last friday. Been to the service center and was declined due to the single dead pixel. Called toll fee line of apple. And nothing as well. Maybe you can help out, how were you able to convince them to have the display replaced?
Are you into photos? If so you can try to dialogue with Apple Support that it is hindering you to work with iPhoto for example because of that annoying dead pixel. Try having your unit checked with Senco after obtaining a case number from apple support. I have two issues fixed by them perfectly. HTH
