Press F12, then click and hold the widget that you like to take to the desktop, then press F12 again, then put the widget the widget anywhere you like then let go. To remove, click and hold the said widget, then press F12, then let go
mine is: weather world clock address book wikipedia dictionary unit converter currency converter calculator istat pro
Calculator • EmitSMS • iTunes • Countdown • World Clock • iCal • Wallsaver • Dictionary • TunesTEXT • iStat Pro • Currency Converter • ESPN: Basketball • Unit Converter • The Weather Channel • MacWorld • MyOSX Freeware
You mean the desktop behind those widgets? I was surprised you saw the background lol. Anyway, I just dloaded the Christmas tree image here then added some texts "Merry Xmacs."
Unfortunately this doesn't really send your widget to the "desktop" because the widget stays above all windows. Anyway my widgets are: iStat Pro, Organized, Dictionary, Webclip's of my site's stat page, Weather and Deep Sleep
If any of you are wondering why your system might be slow, or why RAM is being eaten up, it might be all those widgets that are open on your Dashboard. All I use is iStat Pro & Application Update, but I keep those closed unless I need to use them. I just open, check the results, then close them.
I highly recommend Application Update Widget. It checks your Application folder for your current apps & their version and it then checks Apple, VersionTracker, & MacUpdate for the most recent release of those same apps, and then notifies you if there's an updated version that you can download. Works great most of the time with only a few hiccups. Sometimes even if you have the most current version, depending on how the App in your App folder is read, it'll still notify you of a "more updated" version. Currently Yahoo Msgr & Colloquy show up as such for me in App Update.
