Not quite sure about this but I think you can reformat your ipod to work within the Win XP environment. Set it to manually update the songs in the ipod so you can drag and drop songs onto it under Mac OS X and Win XP

i don't think you can use a Mac-formatted ipod in winxp. However, if you format your ipod to FAT32 (for windows), then you can use it for mac and pc.

same goes for any other external hard disk so it would be wise to format it FAT32... you'll never know if you have to transfer / get files from a PC.

...oh! i didn't know you could do that... :) so, do i just go to utilities then reformat my ipod into FAT32 for window? ...and after, will the iTunes on my mac read the newly formatted ipod?

Yup - reformating in Windows or OS X will erase the contents of your iPod (Music and data files).

basta make sure that the software version of your iPod updater is the same with your WinXP and Mac platforms, because if any of the platforms detects that the software of the iPod isn't the same, it'll prompt you to re-format your iPod to the existing software version that it is using. me, since i'm transferring huge files via my iPod from Mac to PC, i downloaded the new iPod updater for both platforms and then formatted my iPod as FAT32. then i linked it to the iTunes library on my Mac. before kasi i have to reformat my iPod everytime i would transfer kasi luma pa yung software update ng PC ko.
