does anyone know any programs that can record music in your itunes so that i can use it as a ring tone in my cellphone? i tried using audio recorder but even the sound outside can be picked up in the mic. i'm looking for a program that can record a segment of a song just for ring tone.

What is the source material of the song? Is it pre-recorded or will it be performed live? If it's a live performance, maybe, what you need is a good microphone that you can hook up to Garageband to record and edit it. If it's a pre-recorded material, import that file and edit thru that file. Or, is it a combination of both? In which case, import the pre-recorded material (such as minus-one music) into Garageband. Record just the vocals on a separate or new file in Garageband. Mix both. Edit. Convert. Export.

In iTunes, right-click on the song, choose Show In Finder. Copy the MP3 to another location, then drag it to Garageband.

I tried the steps posted by domiqiuejames but garageband still won't open my mp3 files. When i drag it to garage band, it just goes back to its place...any idea how to open this file in garageband?
