If you're old enough to have been alive during the heyday of vinyl records, you might know the pleasure of flipping through a stack of albums and looking for good music by looking at the album art. Some folk, God bless their souls, have tried to reproduce this feeling by making a program that compiles your iTunes album art and creates a virtual stack of "albums" you can leaf through. Double-click on your selection and iTunes plays it lickety-split! Loads better than looking through boring text-only album titles! Presenting Coverflow! This is coolness on the level of JewelCase. Makes you regret not updating your album art when you had the chance, right?
Tried it na. It's neat... but still very much a work in progress. It makes a copy of all your Album Art and puts a copy in it's own folder, not very slick which is why it's kinda slow. I'd rather it be able to pull the image directly from the MP3 using only XML 'Library' data in iTunes. I'd probably want the whole thing kinda like a visualizer add-on for iTunes (like Jewelcase) or dashboard widget in the future. Should still wow an audience looking over your shoulder in a WiFi spot though....
cool... i wonder if i can scan my record sleeves and add em. (but i don't think it'll fit in a regular scanner. hehehehe)
I'm glad this thread was revived, I must have missed it when Adel first posted it. I tried using it and the effect a really cool
I just wish this was built-in to iTunes, would make for a great visual browser in tandem with FrontRow... btw: Doesn't this look familiar?
Wow Gomi, your statement seems very prescient FYI, even though CoverFlow has now been purchased by Apple, they did release vRC1.2 last Sept. 11. The stand-alone version is the only way I know of to make CoverFlow fullscreen. WHAT'S NEW Version RC1.2: Removed the tiresome expiry date Fixed image loading from AAC files on intel Added basic support for the Apple Remote Fixed dumb error that prevented the window from reopening once closed Wikipedia search added to the search engine list Updated French & Chinese localizations, added Spanish Added Jasper Hauser's purty icon
