It’s really surreal when someone close to you has the symptoms. Now a PUM my wife has to undergo stringent health and safety requirements while on self-quarantine at home. She has no travel history this year or to any of the countries where it first appeared. However as an essential staff of the WHO she is in the forefront of those in the agency charged with responding to COVID19, hence the possibility of being infected by doctors and specialists. She is over 50 years old, essentially within 25% of those within the age group susceptible to the virus. And since we are together, we eat together, sleep together, and talk among ourselves at home, that also makes me a candidate for PUM and that makes two of us now. Our sons rarely get out of their rooms and presumably are asymptomatic. My wife has phlegm though she doesn’t cough but has difficulty in breathing because of that. She has no fever. I am asymptomatic unless irritability is a symptom that I don’t know of. So this is a new chapter of our lives, from a different perspective. We’ll beat this I tell you. We have to. I don’t see us taking the dark side of the journey as long as we do what is required, what is right, and what more to do. Maybe I might go dark for a while until it’s over. Be back in a while.
