    While waiting for my time to go home, I chanced upon this cool screensave while surfing the 'net: Soundstream.

    This screensaver is pretty much like the default "flurry" screensaver bundled with OS X but with a twist: It responds to ambient noise around your Mac.

    It can also be used as an iTunes visualization, a desktop background and even KeyNote slide!

    I really, really want to love this screensaver but unfortunately its a cpu/battery hog on my Powerbook. My students love it though, especially during choir practice :D

    are screensavers really necessary? or would you be better off by having your monitor turn itself off after a pre-determined time?

    Screensavers are basically eyecandies or if you want to impress someone. but nevertheless its fun to have one.

    screensavers are meant to reduce (but not eliminate) phosphor burn-in. but nothing beats having your screen turned off.
