i'm using Yahoo! Messenger 3 beta 4... and i've been getting spam messages from my contacts... at first i thought..."hahaha nako mga windows talga laging may malware"... kaso! ako ata ang may malware!

i get spammed from random CONTACTS/friends, and i know it isn't from them kasi iba ibang social circle ngagaling un, eh usually with me, isang barkada ung na vivirus or na phphish

    so help.. :(

this is an example of what i get...

"BUZZ!!! (yup they buzz me first! this gets really annoying at night)

FInally after all this time I found the only way to lose a lot of weight in just a few weeks and not have to diet or excercise. I seen it on Oprah and the news, ordered it and lost 36 pounds in just a few weeks and still losing, they have it now for only five dollars order it at http://mendreal.com"

There's a Yahoo Messenger for Windows Virus going around. If you click the link (and you're using a Windows PC that's not up to date) , you'll get infected.

I haven't used the YM client for years, I use Pidgin on Windows PCs, and Pidgin Portable on my USB flash drive to connect to Yahoo messenger. It's not affected by the Windows YM virus, niether should your Mac and Mac version YM.

Interesting. There seems to be plenty of recent discussion on blogs about it, but few yet from security sites. Another blog. Yet another. An article on eHow warns that you may have to cancel your credit card if you sign up for the Acai berry scam (by accepting the free offer in the link).

Acai Berry?!? yes it's true.. i tried taking Acai Berry even before I have been receiving the spam messages in yahoo. it works but I can't stand the side-effects so I stopped taking it.

i thought i'm the only one receiving those kind of spam messages in yahoo.. i also noticed facebook chat has spam messages too.

got a porn spam message from a contact windows user last month and sent him a screenshot of the thing. I sure he did not send it. I thought his pc had the malware/virus. He did not respond though. Baka cya nga nagpadala haha. But seriously, he was not the type to send me such a message.

So this means the spIMmers don't need a YM account to be online to be able to do their dirty work (unless somebody else is using your dead friend's account). This might mean they might have access to Yahoo' YM servers, which is bad news IMO....
