hi anyone know what prog to use to read comic book on the mac? .cbr and .cbz files. with windows i use cdisplay (freeware) i found comicbooklover for mac but have to buy. any freeware out there that could read these files?
You actually don't need a comic book reader program. Just rename the files's extension from ".cbr" or ".cbz" to ".rar" and then expand it using Stuffit or any of the easily available file compression software that handles RAR compression (which is just about all of them). Then the RAR file just breaks up into individual JPGs or some other common format of the pages of the comic book. Then all you need do is use Preview or any graphic viewing software to read them.
hey hey hey i need this, recently switched! thought i'd have to keep those files in my archives for storage na. great great!
A bit OT though, but still within the comic book realm. Have you guys heard that Spiderman had just revealed his identity to the public in Marvel's Civil War? Seems like the Marvel Universe is split between a legislation requiring all of them to register their true identities. Check it out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_War_(comics)
yeah! civil war 2! Great Read! Bitin! Back to the topic, i love comicbook lover because it's like the itunes for my huge comic collection (10 gb+). There's itunes for music, iphoto for pics, and comicbooklover for comics! Viewing it on preview is, well, I just don't like. Oh, and I cant say where I got my comics. Illegal piracy ek-ek. Long live the Digital Comics Preservation Movement!!!!
alfiesy, did you get my pm? i gaveyou the link to my 'usual place' just post first on the INTRODUCE YOURSELF topic, then you'll see 2 new topics sa pinakababa enjoy

FFView works for me. Reading up on Watchmen again to refresh myself for this Friday's premiere. "Quis custodiet ipsus custodes?" I will! I will! Hehehehe...
I agree with lunedi, SImple Comic is the best comic reader I've tried... Works fast and the developer keeps it up to date.
