Hi Guys, I don't know if you ever discussed about "cleaning your macbook pro", but seems like I couldn't find this thread in this forum. I would like to apologize if there's already. Lately, I notice brown discoloration on my MBP keyboards n some parts nearby keyboard which is covered by silicon keyboard protector from capdase. Any idea how to clean the discoloration ? Can I use Mr. Magic Eraser ? Thank you
Philmuggers swear by Mr. Magic Eraser, so I would give that a try. Plain old water and microfiber cloth might do the trick as well. And I suggest not using the keyboard protector. A friend of mine has the same on by capdase for her Macbook and gets the same discolorations on her keyboard.
What do u mean with plain old water ? How old is old?.. Will Mr. Magic Eraser cause scratches on my MBP since MBP's case is made from alumunium ? Thank you
Yes I believe that Magic Eraser is a micro abrasive so I would not use it on the MBP. A friend of mind uses it on her Macbook and it does the job but it tends to dull shiny surfaces so use with care.
I also use the microfiber cloth, but my concern right now is the brown discoloration on my MBP's keyboard. What can I use to remove those discoloration?
The discoloration caused by the silicon keyboard protector from Capdase, I don't think so I can claim it to Applecare..
no questions ask dpat mpapalitan yan under warranty. aminin mo man o hindi n gumamit ka ng protector. libre palit nyan.
The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is also available at Handyman in TriNoma. Priced at Php 199.75. Don't bother asking the sales persons because they don't know! It is usually displayed with other sponges. I find it expensive so I buy the Arix counterpart. (Though I think Mr. Clean is more effective.)
How do you guys clean your keyboards and the tight spaces in between? If I use magic eraser, some of the dirt will go under the keyboard. If you go to apple center, will they replace it or just clean it for you?
I use the iKlear cleaner. Turn off the MacBook and let it cool. Spray the stuff on the included microfiber cloth and while depressing the keys, clean the the areas between the keys. Works great. Inicidentally I've stopped using my keyboard cover now, since it seems to attract and concentrate dust in those spots.
Rafaelc378, where can I buy iklear Cleaner? True it seems that the cover attracts dust and makes the macs temp increase. Ejaxene, i"ll also try wet wipes and see if it can remove the stains.
