Guess what. It turns out that this PC USB controller I have which was meant for PCs works with macs too! You can find this at any PC shop. I bought mine at V-mall for only about P400 I believe a couple of months ago. And here I thought I needed to get those more expensive special, meant for macs Logitech controllers. But this works really well. I've tested it on several games and I'm having a blast with it on my Intel iMac. It shows up on System profiler as a generic controller. I'm using it to play old SNES games on Snes9x. I really appreciate it as playing with the keyboard is tough sometimes. Especially for my 7 year old son. Now he can enjoy the games I used to enjoy And there are TONS of SNES games. Here's a pic. Its got "Dilong" written on it
for the same purpose, i use my PS2 controller connected to a USB adapter and it works great with Snes9x too.. it will need some configuration first, though.. but i guess this is better because you can directly connect it to the mac via USB..
I have one of those "Dilong" gamepads. They work quite well, and feel almost exactly like original Playstation Dual Shocks. Got one for P250 several months ago from my suki at TipidPC.
has anyone tried this controller with ableton? you think it'll work? it would be good for making beats and i would imagine the joystick would be great for tweaking pitches and filters
Dunno. Only one way to find out. But if I had to guess, considering these are generic brands, it should work.
i got mine to work...I'm using a dragon ps controller usb adaptor. I'm actually using a playstation controller attached to this dragon brand contraption. So i guess any controller would run under the snes9x. next question: where do you download your snes9x roms? thanks in advance
yup, i've been googling and i just cant find any good source...i just prefer to ask others if they could recommend a site....its usually best to check recommended sites thanks for the cherry roms ( that site didnt come out in my google search ). will check it out
Reviving an old thread. Recently installed a copy of Lego Star Wars (I, not II) on my Macbook. The Dilong USB controller is recognized by the Mac - no problem there. But for some reason Lego Star Wars refuses to see that there is a controller installed. Has anyone had any luck using the Dilong controllers with this game?
Hmmm... very interesting. My kid is starting to become an avid gamer. I'll look around for this Dilong controller to let him play SNES games on his iBook
This is the same reason I'm trying to get the Dilong Controller to work with my Macbook - Lego Star Wars is a cooperative game and my 6-yr old son is really into it, but it's kinda difficult to have two people play this game on a single laptop keyboard. Right now I'm resorting to using my Stowaway Bluetooth keyboard as a "game pad", with my son using the keyboard of the Macbook. Awkward setup, but it works. Dilong even sells dual controllers - two gamepads connected to a single USB port.
CD-R King-branded dual gamepad works with the MacBook! Me and my kid had a blast playing racing games via SNES9X!
I also have the cdr king usb gamepad, the dual twin usb version. Tried it with ROTK and Mototraxx and it works! I also tried it with tony hawk 2 but the analog doesn't respond.
