Since the title of the thread does say "Cheap MacBook Air", can I get opinion on those MBA 2015 vs 2017 models being sold either second hand or brand new (if you're lucky)? Both say 8gb RAM, so Is 128gb enough storage space?

Target would be basic office work (from home) -- Excel pivot tables etc or Online classes for the kids.

.....and maybe the occasional Fortnite or Roblox....

 

Once in a while I see a 2017 Air going 35-30k second hand and in good condition. Those are sold quickly though. Other then that I personally would not buy an 2017 Air brand new for the current ongoing price of 46k. Especially when if you are patient enough you can eventually get a 2020 model for 52k on the Philippine Online Apple Store. However when it will be available for purchase is a mystery.

If you can’t wait (frankly I think you can but you just want it now ) there are gray market dealers selling the base model for 56-58k. Even at those prices stocks are sold quickly though. Lots of folks tend to use their hearts not their heads when buying Macs

Yeah, none of them are going below 40k right now. Right now the budget is below 50k that’s why it’s a choice between a ‘cheap MacBook’ or an iPad.

Still gotta have budget left to enroll the kids in school even just for the 1st sem

I guess all of this is stemming from the frustration that the stuff we ordered from Apple PH in SG are stuck in PH customs.
