Yeah, I have been using Chax for awhile now and I really find it cool that you can choose not to pause AV chats during active file trasfers! And now tabbed chats! Yaaaaaay!
And one of my favorite features is the Log Viewer! It's just so cool that you can review past chats for reference, particularly useful in online business and work-related chats! Very convenient when looking up for information from previous chats!
First, you need an AIM user name. You can get one for free by subscribing to a free trial of .Mac in System Preferences. Don't worry, even if the trial expires, that AIM user name is yours for life. After you're done with the registration process, just run iChat and it should be ready to go. Otherwise, go to AIM.com and apply for a free AOL IM account. remember the username and password and input that when you launch iChat for the first time. HTH
If the .mac trial expires, could I still use the .mac username to log in ichat? Or do I have to renew subscription?
As mentioned... Even if it has an @mac.com it can be used as an AIM username. After the trial expires, you may not use it for email or iDisk, but you can use it for iChat forever.
