Ever since landline numbers added 8 to them I have been receiving calls at an unusual rate lately as if they were all trying out their new numbers. Some I have identified to be from Citibank, BDO, Globe, even the Philippine Statistics Administration, and the rest are unknown. Today I received 5 calls I didn’t pick up because instead of 8 it started with a 7.

It's so annoying to me that after this 8-digit format, my wife's Globe DUO number doesn't register her as the caller but just numbers. I think Apple has yet to fix the number format for landlines for PH.

Apps like Viator are rejecting the numbers, saying it's the incorrect format.

not making it a big deal, just stating it should be used with caution. It’s an open secret globe and other telcos used to (or maybe still does) sell our data to marketers.

thanks for the step by step advice on using it though.

Any new app or online tool that tells you what prefix digit to use if you can provide the first three digits of the old 7-digit number?

It's frustrating that a lot of business establishments have not updated their phone numbers in online listings to the 8-digit format. You literally have to guess if it's PLDT, Globe, etc.

On my iPhone (personal), I manually edited all my contacts since there are only a few landline entries. I do not have an app to recommended though, sorry.

However on my Android phone (business), I just used the Google Contacts app to auto-magically update the landline prefixes. It will prompt you on first launch to confirm.
