I dearly hope I posted this in the right board... anyways. I know about grab, and the other 3rd party apps. But my issue is this: I seldom use the "screen capture" thing. and I REALLY like using the system hotkeys of OSX (this translates to: I prefer NOT to use even Grab, which is built in - if i can help it that is) My only beef with the default OSX screen capture is it outputs to PDF - I'd like to change it (if possible) to a filetype more immediately editable. PNG seems to be a good choice for me (or lossless TIFF like grab) if possible. Is this possible at all? Or do I really have to resort to those other applications if I want to output a quick capture to something OTHER than pdf?
Open Preview (located in Applications) and choose File > Open. Locate the file you want to convert and click Open. Choose File > Export. Choose a file format from the Format pop-up menu and click Save. if else fails, try Snap N' Drag. [Edited on 2-28-2005 by super_ed]
thanks ed, but that's not quite what i had in mind. i was thinking along the lines of the shift-command-3 (or 4) to directly output to something other than PDF.
convert any image file into a jpeg. just click and drag the file into the "DropJPG" icon located on your dock. DropJPG http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15682
Use Onyx, it can change the default screen capture output to PNG, JPG and some other file format. I used it to change the default PDF to JPG. Under 'Parameters' select 'General' then 'Format Screen Capture'
