Can\'t wait for iPod adapter for non-BMW cars! What a bummer! I drove down from San Jose, CA to San Diego, CA to help my daughter move back up from college and the iPod battery died just after Disneyland. The same thing happened on the way back up; I didn't have music (of my own choosing) for an hour and a half. Hey, if an adapter for BMW can be made, why not for other car brands?
Seems like an iPod car charger such as this one will be a better and cheaper option for your current setup. ~Henjie
It IS an option and I am considering it because she may end up getting a job down there and I will have to help her move again. But, didn't I read a post somewhere here where the car charger ruined one's iPod's battery?
Here's a better option for you, when it comes out by end of summer: Alpine with iPod support: http://www.macminute.com/2004/01/06/alpine
That's really a concern since I'm about to go mobile soon, but from the replies on that thread, that bad experience seems to be an isolated case. Check out this guide on installing an iPod in your car from iPodlounge. This option is available to you since you're based in the states.
