hello.. i just have this problem about changing my desktop background after repairing disk permission using Onyx.. im sorry but it seems that there's no thread for this topic yet (sorry.. please correct me if im wrong).. anyway, it happened 3 weeks ago.. i was cleaning up my macbook.. i deleted the applications that were not so useful to me and decided to use Onyx to repair disk permission.. after the repair, my desktop background suddenly changed into a plain blue wallpaper and Onyx crashed.. i had to reboot my macbook but after doing so, the plain blue wallpaper appeared again.. then i tried going to system preferences to change my desktop background.. i used my photos in iPhoto album and they worked.. same with the default images from Apple.. but when i try using my new wallpapers which i downloaded from the net (jpg and png formats) to be my desktop background, they just didnt work.. ive been a mac user for 4 years.. but it's my first time to encounter a problem like this.. before i forget, i also have tried deleting "com.apple.desktop.plist" then reboot.. but nothing happened.. i tried repairing disk permission again just today and my background is still blue.. seems like im stucked with the blue wallpaper and with my photos in iPhoto.. please, help me.. *** im using a mac os x 10.5.6 leopard ***
Try the following: 1. Log-out and log-in again. or, 2. Do Terminal: rm ~/Desktop/.DS_Store rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist killall Finder or, as a last resort - 3. Create a new account, then delete your original account (after copying all the files therein).
thanks for the reply.. yep, ive been trying to reboot my mac since 3 weeks ago.. but it's still the same.. and the terminal.. ive already tried it.. didnt work.. about creating a new account, havent tried it yet.. but i wonder if it can be related to what ive discovered.. i logged out as Admin and logged in to my Guest account, and still the blue wallpaper couldnt be changed.. so it might be a big problem then?? thanks for any help..
