    Hello PhilMUG.

A sad evening for me.:( My iBook G4 is not starting up. I searched the forum for related threads but majority of the suggestions didn't work. My iBook G4 is having symptoms just like in this thread.

    I tried these methods:
    1. Reset PRAM and NVRAM
    2. Reset PMU
    3. Removed the RAM
    4. Tried to boot from CD (CD won't eject)
    5. Tried Target Mode with PowerBook G4 Titanium

But all of these with no success.

To sum up, these are the iBook's activities:

No start-up chime, no display, CD drive spins for around 4 seconds, I can feel the HD's vibration, keyboard has power (caps lock and num lock), battery won't charge - AC adapter lit green. When I press the battery indicator, 4 lights are blinking.

I am thinking that the improvised adapter could have fried the Logic Board. I hope not.

yup its the classic symptom of a busted logicboard, it turns on but no display... you can also try to connect it to an external display and see if there's any display, if none then its definitely a logicboard problem.

this problem (logicboard) is very common among ibooks since the ibook g3 days...

whew, this is really sad. Is there a possibility that the video chip is the culprit? Coz I saw one in TipidPC, they are replacing the ATI video chip.

its possible but you need to have it diagnosed if its indeed the video card that got busted..

The iBook is back to life now. I removed the battery last night. This morning, it started up well. A good morning for me. :)

spike888ph's company is known to do board level work, in fact other laptop repair shops outsource their repair to him. that would be a last recourse.

Nomer of Ynzal would be a good arbiter in case you really need to let go of your ibook soon.

For now, take extra extra extra care of your iBook...

You were right mark_17 and macdrive007. The iBook is in total resting stage now. It resurrected for 2 days but finally laid down. How sad. :(

@nydge: just post the parts you want to sell at the Marketplace FS thread - itemize them with price for each if you can disassemble your iBook (more income), or sell it as a whole (less income, option of not including HDD).
