are you sending a file to a cellphone? if yes make sure the phones BT is on and the visibility is on (shown to all). if it doesnt work still try pairing them first. i hope this helps
uh. nope, i just just clicked the bluetooth icon, then clicked send file (this is the icon short cut)
I think the easiest way to this is place a bluetooth file exchange icon in your dock. After that just drag any file you want to send on that dock icon,it will automatically search for bluetooth devices. HTH
that's what ive been dojng since i realized that the send file from the icon is not working but is it normal? can you try it out with your iBook? pls?
There's a shortcut... with the file/s selected press command + shift + b... that should open the Bluetooth File Exchange dialogue in the background and you can share those themes/photos/scandals/games to your heart's content. @ Macychic: Does the Bluetooth File Exchange open?
i tried this in my ibook and it works ok. Why dont you ty sending a file from your phone to your ibook first to check if the bluetooth connection is working.
When you send the file you have to accept it on your phone. also make sure you pair the phone with your iBook first. if you send a file to your iBook its the same you have to accept it. mine works fine with my z520i and w800
jm. I don't think she has a problem with the pairing and all since she can already send files by dragging them to the icon. she's wondering why the "send file" dialogue does not appear when activated from the bluetooth icon on the menubar.
IC....well in that case there is a problem with her bluetooth. the send file dialogue should pop up. and the bluetooth has to be on for the option to "send file" appears. if thats the case i have no idea what the problem is. ok try this open bluetooth preferences check bluetooth file transfer also turn on bluetooth file sharing on. that way the phone can also browse the ibook, you can also choose what folder the phone can browse. thats all i can think of hope it works.
thanks! that's what ive been doing. is it possible to reinstall the software of something? is it in the installer cd? shux am sooo sad help po
I tried transfering photos from my N80 to the iBook through bluetooth a couple of times before.. I answered every prompt but EVERY file that I tried to send stopped at 263.9KB (don't know what's with the #) and didn't send successfully. I tried to "Set Up Bluetooth Device" again and again, still didn't work. I used "Browse Device" and "Send File" from then on, instead. At least that worked for me. what's wrong with my bluetooth? -----------edited---------- shoot.. after I did google (better late than never) seems like it's a common problem when pairing N80 w/ any mac.. please just disregard my post then.
If the send file dialogue box does not pop up you better have it checked, sorry cant really figure it out.
this is a last ditch solution, but it should work. 1. make sure you back up your home folder (although what I'm about to prescribe is relatively safe, this is a good time as any to back up). 2. Insert the installer disk that came with your iBook. 3. shut down 4. power up while holding the C key so the computer boots up into the install CD. 5. Go through the installation process (select language and agree to the SLA). When prompted to select a destination drive, click the HD icon and then the OPTIONS button in bottom left corner of the window. 6. Select Archive and Install. 7. In the next window, you might want to click on CUSTOMIZE and then uncheck the Language Translations option so you can recover some disk space. 8. Click Continue and allow the installation to complete. This method is just like starting up a new computer, although all the contents of the Users and Applications folders will be preserved and restored. I've done this many many times, and I haven't encountered any problems. I'm pretty certain this will resolve your little BT problem. You might have to reinstall some applications though (like Garage Band, which is in the Optional Installs folder in the installer CD). Good luck
