The only XLB I've had here in Manila was in Shang Palace and it was ok, nothing great. I've heard of Suzhou but I've read mixed reviews. Any recos?
these are my choices too, but if I were to pick one, Gloria maris would be it. The juciest among the three...
choi so far is the best for me. before it was gloria maris but now choi has more soup compared to gloria maris. Mien san also has good siao long pao.
The great thing about Suzhou (Mabini) is that it's open 'till 4am. Nothing beats sour and spicy soup and xiao long pao after a beerfest with the boys. Mr. Choi's is also a good alternative.
thanks for all the recommendations! there's a gloriamaris near our place, so i'll try that first. then mr choi's when i'm in the vicinity (greenhills?). saw a din tai fung in hk--didn't get to try though. same as singapore's?
Din Tai Fung is located in Taiwan, HK, Singapore, and LA. There might be other branches but these are the ones I know.
the best i've tried is in shanghai.. its a building of 3 floors.. each floor got different kind of xiao long pao.. (yes they only do xlp) ground floor is all pork, and the top floor is i think with sharksfin and everything else. locally.. i think sz got the best value xlp in town.. next is gloria maris.. have yet to try mr choi..
Kelvin, Suzhou in Mabini is open 24 hours! This restaurant is not to be confused with Su-Zhou in San Juan. That's totally different.
Sozhou is on Mabini. If you're driving down Mabini (one way) from Remedios, its on the left, directly perpendicular to Alonzo Street (the street right before Malvar, which is where Pan Pacific Hotel is). It's hard to spot if you're not looking out for it. The best way to find it is to drive down Adriatico from Pedro Gil towards Remedios then turn right on Alonzo (the second corner) so the restaurant ends up directly in front of you.
