Help, haha I'm torn between buying a second hand and a brand new.
Coming from a Macbook Air, I have 2 options on upgrading:
    1. Someone offered me a rMBP 13" 2013 with 256GB SSD for P40,000 with 80 batt cycle count
    2. Tempted to get a brand new rMBP 13" 2015 for roughly P56,000 (discounted) but with 128gb SSD only

I need advices on should I stick with just the second hand but 256gb and cheaper or just get the brand new but with 16k difference.
Are there new features available on the 2015 model other the force touch trackpad?

    Thanks guys :)

you should just wait for the open-box and end-of-life sales from BTB, hehe. but those aren't pre-announced, but happens quite regularly (usually one sale each quarter).

those units offer the best value for your money, hehe. :)

^yeah! nothing beats Beyond The Box's EOL sales! but nothing beats also having to get ahead of its most rabid fans (abangers!) just the same!

I am considering the MBP 2015 with this custom configuration:
    • 2.8GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 4.0GHz
    • 16GB 1600MHz memory
    • 512GB PCIe-based SSD
    • Intel Iris Pro Graphics
Can this handle 4k editing? Plus is it true that it will take 6 months for a BTO Macbook Pro 2015?

amigo, looking at the Apple PH store, it seems the MBPr 2015 isn't available anymore, much less a BTO option at that.

perhaps calling your preferred Beyond The Box outlet can help in sourcing one should they happen to have one although a BTO unit in stock might be a rare find at that but a call should definitely confirm it. you might even get a really good deal especially if you time it on a Wednesday. hardehar! good luck!

MBPr 2015 is still listed in the apple stores including options. And I think it'll still be available until early next year, since 2016 models will only be available 'til next month based on shipping dates. So I guess the best time to buy really is early next year.

Plus, I'm not feeling the discounts from BTB BDO promo anymore since BDO lowered it to max of 15k (20k previously). The stocks are already limited anyway and the hassle of calling (always busy) and running to every BTB branch on horrific traffic (which I did just to get discount for my Ipad Pro) for a day isn't worth the lost time, energy, and stress-related beauty anymore.

I also emailed Ms. Airyn early this week to reserve a 256gb 13inch rMBP but there's no more stock. Worse, the 128gb config increased by 5K!

Now torn between the 128gb 13in rMBP and the 2016 Macbook 12in 256gb. Same price at 56k. I checked Youtube clips and it seems Photoshop and LR work decently in the MB. If I can easily handle stock trading charts in MB, MB would be a good candidate (portability and weight are additional plus factors).

Still waiting for the price of the 2016 MBP without touch pad, though. I hope there would be a good Philmug price (84K SRP).

the Macbook 12" 512gb config (first gen) has proven to be a snappy one for my needs be it for emails, browsing, code work. admittedly, it is noticeably faster than my mid 2014 MBPr even. that usb-c port is blazing fast as far as transfers are concerned.

the portability factor is such a welcome respite, a surprising one at that given the mid 2014 MBPr is not that heavy anyway compared to the pre-SSD MBPs of yesteryears.

as a result, once my MBPr is ready to call it a night, i'm contemplating on getting say the 4th rev of the Macbook 12". hopefully by then, it'll come with a faster processor and at a 16gb RAM default config. the first gen suits my needs to a hilt. i can only imagine what the 4th rev can bring to the table.

Am also contemplating getting the 128gb 2015 macbookPro for P56,500 (CASH) or the 256gb version for P64,500 (CASH) since I'm not ready to trabsition to an "all USB C" port 2016 version.
I've search the web but there isn't any way to upgrade the SSD capacity yet (or i'm just not looking hard enough)

EDIT: what's your take on the 128gb version? would an external 1TB HDD (w/c costs around P3,000) a smart choice for the moment?

If you have a lot of apps. Go get the 256 version but I think this is still out stock in BTB stores so you'll probably get the 128. Hahah does that make sense :D
Anyway, the 256 2015 model probably won't restock. Even on the apple website, they removed the 256 version to make way for the 2016 which has a 256 base model.
I got the 128gb last week btw

I won't be doing iMovie/FinalCutProX nor Garageband and Lightroom photo editing (rarely does photoshop) bcoz those taxing apps are reserve for my iMac.
there is another online merchant that still has the 256gb version. and btw: enjoy your new MBP :)

Care to share the online merchant? :) 64,500 seems acceptable compared to the rMBP 128gb + Transcend Jerdrive Lite 128gb route that I'm now considering.

This was my dilemma 3 weeks ago! I didn't like the mbp 2016 and I can't decide between 128g+hard drive or 256g because I also have a powerful iMac, but some people here convinced me to get the 256 heh. I immediately called all authorised sellers, and iStudio vmall gave me the best price for the 256 (74k, 12mo/0% interest).

Unfortunately i can't avail the btb discount because I don't have bdo visa. But if you do have bdo visa, try calling btb centris. Last time i checked they still have one last 256. :)

Oh and I'm still getting an external HD for it because I love keeping my macs file-free :))

Thanks for the suggestions. Too bad, both stores no longer have the 13" 256gb. Oh well, the BDO Visa promo runs up to Dec 7. If I don't get a 256gb variant from BTB, will just go with the 128gb one (but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that Sir Abet can find a 13" 256gb config for me).

Hello, eyemac. Looking also for your response on this as we're considering either 128gb or 256gb. The cash prices you mentioned are pretty good deals :)

    "Well this is embarrassing........."
ONLY the 128gb variant is available last time I checked (just 2-hrs ago)
:-( the 256gb had gone "Out Of Stock" - DARN IT!!!

I HATE to lead you to a merchant other than BTB but times like this? well...
Disclaimer: I'm NOT in any way connected to "K** Store"
    Goodluck!

EDIT: website might not be updated real time, 2-weeks ago the iPhoneSE Space Gray is at "No Stock" status but upon confirming my order (merchant will contact you to finalize order), pleasant surprise that it was already in-stock so I changed from "Silver" to "Space Gray" -- you might want to try even if the website indicates "Out Of Stock"

I suddenly realized to check her site after reading your post 3 hours ago. The 256gb option was already out of stock that time so I thought you have another source. Thanks anyway. :)
