In my experience even with a SATA III enabled Mac jumping from a SATA II to SATA III SSD won't yield any noticeable benefits unless you regularly move large chunks of data.
here's an upcoming Sata II SSD that looks promising : (for 2010 versions and lower) http://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel-710-ssd-lyndonville-enterprise-solid-state-drive,13356.html#xtor=RSS-181
been using Patriot Wildfire Sata 3 120Gb on my MBP 2011 for 3 weeks now, installed it in the main hard disk bay. i haven't encountered any problems since the install. boot time takes around 20 secs. opening programs is instant (no more bouncing icons). but my only problem is, the read/write speed that is written in the specs, it says 500+Mb/S. but what the actual read/write speed that i have achieved using xbench and AjA System Test, is only 370+Mb/S. but still its faster than Sata 2.
Sata 2 vs Sata 3 If the price is negligible, of course you might want the newer tech for future proofing at least for a while. And come selling time for the old mac, just pop in your old hdd and use the ssd in the new one (Mac or PC whatever).
Just to add, Sata 2 vs. Sata 3 differences can only be "felt" in SSDs, specially with the newer generations, so get Sata 3 if possible Oh btw, you can compare stats, etc here: thessdreview.com Stats, includes Sata 2 vs Sata 3 gen (but needs registration): http://thessdreview.com/Forums/ssd-benchmark-locker/420.htm
they had a sale on Sandisk SSD's a few days ago sa Amazon. only like around P6,500 (converted) for a 120GB. And the 240gb naman was going for $350.
contact Louie of TipidPC.com - then meet him at Greenhills. I highly suggest a Crucial M550... or if budget is not an issue, a Samsung 850 Pro.
