Hi guys, I know we all have a point in our life wherein we're feeling "a little bit" under the weather (having a new video game, will watch an NBA game, etc.). What's your best "Sick Leave" excuse? :p

Under your bed. In your closet. In your head.
Not a sick leave, per se, but for parents, "My kid's yaya left."

There was one manager who never really accepted LBM as an excuse to be out for the day. He always said: "Madami tayong CR dito sa office...".

I used to manage our company's leave hotline (which you needed to call to let everyone know you'll be absent), and you'll be surprised how desperate people can be, at times.

One time, and agent advised that he had a fever. I asked him what his last temp reading was, and he said 41. Escalated to his supervisor for feigning sickness.

Then we also saw a trend of guys whose vacation leaves were not approved (limited slots), then called in sick on the day itself. Caused a huge stir.

Then there was one time a chick called in sick. 2 or 3 days later, we find her picture in the newspapers, partying in Boracay. Her boyfriend was part of the varsity team which won the UAAP, and the players were rewarded with a trip to Boracay, +1.

So, be careful with your excuses, guys. And remember, it's easy to tell a lie, but it's harder to keep it. You need to keep covering it up.

If you're sick and really can't go to work, you don't need to make up excuses. Say "No" to excuses. Just don't.

Your integrity is worth more than the value of unused sick leaves.

how many days do you plan not to go to work?

1 day - Migraine attack (this is very annoying and sometimes pain is really not tolerable - you really cant work with this)

2 days - Tummy problems due to food poisoning

3-5 days - Gout attack (Tell em its on your foot/toe - you cant walk)

you can use Vertigo once in a while too - for 1-2 days of absence :)

    ---

I've just realized I'm the only one here with a REAL pic on my profile :) - might need to change this in a bit. lol

"I won't be in the office today"

Simple as that. Our company don't ask nor question what would be the reason. It just lets us.
But I make it to a point wherein I don't have deliverables that day nor a very important meeting.

P.S. We don't even punch in/time in/clock in or out everytime we arrive or leave. Everything's based on honesty :)

Though it's not a sick leave reason but a more legal one.

No one's messing with someone else's careers so.. Tell them nasa "x" Embassy ka, and your Manager and your Supervisor won't dive into your personal issues and careers. They would do the same way just to make career somehow brighter in the future. And no one messed over that.

I think this thread must be renamed to Excuses 101

In the US, call in sick with low back pain. That automatically gets you a week's respite. Employers are wary about work conditions worsening your illness, lest they get sued for it.

Just don't post photos of you in Aruba. Also, make sure you secure proof that you went to a doctor during this time.

Before I got my US PT license, I worked with Amazon (Yes I know everything that happens inside an Amazon Warehouse! ), low back pain is the number 1 excuse for call in sick.
