There are unlocked LTE capable apple watches. None of are locked to a carrier.
True. Demand would not increase if there is no support in the first place.
if not locked to a carrier, will they work with Globe (or Smart)? Thanks
For Series 5, yes. Though there are still some minor differences in band support for US vs. Asia models. Best to get HK/AU/SG cellular models in anticipation of Globe officially supporting AWatch.
For Series 4 and below, steer clear of cellular versions bought in the US, they lack necessary band support for PH/Asia
I really hope that Globe supports the Apple watch soon. I don't want to have my phone with me all the time. I'd love to be able to go somewhere quick and not miss any phone calls or messages.
Hey guys, any news here? Is Globe finally supporting Apple Watch?
is Apple Watch Cellular already available in PH?
Officially, no. But you can always buy one in the grey market but the cellular function wouldn’t work.
Nabulok na ang Watch Series 4 Cellular ko at hindi parin supported ng Globe ito
Hahaha... natawa ako dun sa nabulok.. i dont know why telcom companies here in the Philippines doesnt want to support cell data on apple watches.. kainis..
I'd get one in a heartbeat (if PHP300-500/month add on). VoLTE is now available so it'd be easier to implement going forward. It's all about the money, we just aren't a big enough group to cater to.
I wanna leave my phone so badly when doing errands or going to the gym.
im with you. Hope that we have Globe insider here to explain us "why it take too long"
Maybe it’s because the market is limited and they don’t stand to earn much from it? Not enough to justify end-to-end support for its services?
I remember sharing here how the Series 4 with Cellular model passed the NTC certification two years ago and predicting that a launch was imminent. That post didn't age well like spaghetti from the NYE that was left unrefrigerated. The same is the case for the Series 6 and Watch SE. Both models passed the NTC certification in October, less than 3 weeks after the September announcement. It looks like Apple is ready to launch the cellular models when the carriers are.
