Apple may have the money to buy them but is Netflix willing to sell considering how well they are doing?

Not sure. Plenty of questions needs to be answered if this scenario happens. First thing that comes to mind is will Apple make Netflix exclusive to Apple TV?

It's up to shareholders and very rarely do they say no to a big pay day.

But likelihood of this is happening is slim. Rarely does Apple buy big companies. Netflix is a ~90B company.

That will be suicide. Netflix is earning because it can be viewed in multiple platforms. Making it available only to ATV will just be plain suicide.

Mm...good deal for AAPL if Tim Cook goes for it. Extremely good deal for Netflix owners......to the tune of usd 100 B. Of course, Apple will not make it an exclusive to Apple users service. It will stunt subscription growth and/or destroy it although Apple has a installed active devices of 1.3 billion worldwide as of January.

I wonder if this is a reaction to Disney's upcoming streaming service. Once that is up Apple might lose exclusivity of Disney titles in its iTunes Store and they may have to find another source of titles to augment it's lineup.

What’s clear is Apple is interested in the streaming service business. They have already invested USD1Billion in creating original content. Given Apple’s rumored reserves outside the US they have the budget to even acquire Disney itself. Although that’s probably not going to happen.

Why don't they just buy Amazon Prime instead? It's cheaper and they can compete with Netflix.
