Just read from Engadget, Apple just updated their base MacBook model to White polycarbonate shell, 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo processor with faster 1,066MHz frontside bus, 2GB DDR2 and NVIDIA 9400M video card.
Apple Philippines' online store still has the old white Macbook on file. I'm guessing the update has something to do with Snow Leopard & the end of contract with Intel.
Alas, it's only available from the US store for now. I wonder when this will be available from the Philippine Apple Online Store.
End of contract with Intel? whoa, even if it means Cheaper MacBooks, I'm not getting a new one if they switch to AMD.
i'm wondering how much (if its possible to replace it with) is the black macbook body..would it even fit in the "old" black case? by the way, does this updated model still have the FW400 port?
Connections and expansion MagSafe power port Gigabit Ethernet port Mini-DVI port FireWire 400 port (up to 400 Mbps) Two USB 2.0 ports (up to 480 Mbps) Audio line in Audio line out Kensington lock slot
AMD processor with an nVidia graphics chip? Now, that's an interesting concept. I wonder if Steve has forgiven ATI for that leak related to the cube way back in 2002.
Wouldn't that make it better than a MacBook Unibody because of the Firewire port? It's...it's a Mini MacBook Pro now that it has discreet graphics!
End of contract with the GMA chips not Intel processors. AMD make prehistoric chips by comparison. Do you want to use a processor that is years backwards? Buy an AMD. I feel bad for those who bought the Sept white Macbook... well, not really.
To get it in black, maybe order a black body and have it swapped? Not sure if the innards would fit an older case though, but I'm sure somebody will take it apart soon enough. It's nice they rolled this out, you get all the stuff you love from the previous model and a graphics card, better bluetooth and ilife '09 bundled in. And it's a bit more friendly to some of us, since the DDR2 is still way cheaper than DDR3 and older peripherals are compatible - including the battery. Hope we get this too at the local apple store (at a nice price). More specs here btw
