I was in Japan last week, and was able to turn on and off the AC in my server room with the Broadlink. I was looking at the Unifi cameras and saw the end tube of the Dyson Vacuum on the wall and called our kasambahay who was probably cleaning the room. I called her name through the Unifi micro G3 which had a microphone and speaker built in. But nobody responded. When we got home, she told the story to my wife that she was cleaning my server room and the AC turned on by itself and a voice called her name. So she ran out of the house and slept outside for a couple of days, going back inside just to eat and use the bathroom. I would have said nothing, but I can clearly see she is terrified. So instead of being an @ss, I told her about the remote operation and automation. But my wife still thinks I'm an @ss.

I actually did the same thing to my dog when we were in the States in ‘17. We used a 360-degree dog cam attached to Google Home and always beeped my sons from the US, as well as the dog. One night, I saw the dog sleeping on our sofa, a no-no for him, so Instead of beeping him I called him out. He was jolted from his sleep, went down the sofa and run around the house thinking we had arrived. Later I lost video and contact with the cam. When we returned back a week later, we found out Charlie had bumped the cam and chewed on it, apparently in disgust over not seeing us for a long time.

Now we use a Nest cam attached to a beam so the dog won’t reach it. :p

    ^^ Good one. :D

I always suppress the urge to do that. Anyway, my family knows me so well and so they're quite oblivious to what's going on with my smart devices. I do speak to them from time to time (as well as our dog when he's home alone) through my Wyze cameras or by using Drop-In on Alexa.

I saw this display at True Value. From bulbs to sockets and switches.

I’m bringing home a Ring Smart Doorbell I bought at Duty Free. I got permission from PMO to install same on my door sans wires, just 3M double sided tape and wifi connection. I’ve heard so many good things about Ring and maybe this is the only smart thing I need right now, pun intended.

I bought a bulb which is 660Php, and a 2 button switch which is 1100Php. I'm getting more bulbs, and will get a price list.

I have used both, but currently use the Schlage only because of the keypad. I use the AppleTV as HomeKit Hub. I backed the SmartThings, but dumped it when it was acquired by Samsung.

im using 2 august. so far so good. Will depend on what you will need since august is just an "add on" to your door locks while Schlage is the whole lock set itself.
using my echo and google home for them. hehe

What a coincidence. Wyze, in fact, is coming out with their own smart door lock for under $100. The following is the email I received just a couple of days ago.

I currently don't have a need for it as our home is not set up to benefit from the technology. But for $89, it certainly is tempting.

Ring is good. Installs smartly. No hiccups there. So is Schlage I hear. August I replace because of connection issues (or mine was a lemon).
