This just in: Remember the MBP I returned to my former office? Well, it just got feloniously snagged by a syndicate plying malls and custom shops in metro manila. Actually, two laptops were stolen from the rear of a parked vehicle of the present custodian of the mbp at mc home depot in alabang last may 24, 2009. suspects were reportedly on board a white nissan x-trail with plt nr xnh-983. Anyone who comes in possession or is offered such an mbp with said serial number, or an hp dv640nr, please contact the case officer at omd, cidg tel nr 02-7228983. Thank you.
i suggest you also post the serial number at the stolen mac thread for easier verification for the buyer if he/she is a philmugger.

just an update: apparently the vehicle used (a white nissan x-trail with plt nr xnh-983) is registered in san juan, qc and was previously reported to have been used in a heist in laguna not too long ago... previously, a couple of guns were taken, now laptops... seems like a couple of guys are getting itchy and desperate to earn cash... we're on the lookout... update nr 2: an mbp turned up in greenhills this 1:30pm but the alleged seller backed out when asked for its box, serial number and how it came to his possession...if only gh security were informed earlier...

apparently, the SG on duty may be in cahoots with the group that snitched the laptops so they took him in for questioning...it looks like he has been giving conflicting statements about what he allegedly saw...now, he says it's not a nissan x-trail but a toyota fortuner with same plate number (which according to lto was issued to a nissan actually)...something tells us he may be trying to divert attention from that vehicle... so far, no mbp has shown up on tipidpc or sulit.com, but a good friend reported that someone was hawking an hp laptop, which looks very much like the one snitched, in one of the stalls in gh... wish i was there to help and assist, but the guys there are doing fine... thanks also for your help here, guys...we'll catch them grifters, just a matter of time...
update from the owner: he is giving away a brand new iPhone 3g 8gb complete for any information leading to the recovery of both laptops....if you have anything, please PM me and don't post it here...thank you and no, there is no truth to the rumor that a copy of his tryst with katrina is still in the hard disk of his hp laptop, as well as other shenanigans for that matter...
