Is there any reason why the Adress Book application would launch on its own and subsequently shut own without any action on my part? This happened a few times already, while surfing via Safari and/or Firefox, if I recall correctly.

Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be something (a virus perhaps?) trying to access my contacts without my consent? TIA.

This happens with me too. I'm trying to remember which app is causing it. Do you have Missing Sync installed? Or Dashboard KickStart?

Dashboard Kickstart is the culprit - happened to me only after installing it. One of the widgets that needs Address Book info is automaticalling starting up your address book.

ha ha ha! it must be latest version of callwave! thanks for the feedback guys!

now, is it something that we HAVE to live with? no fix for the self-launching-address-book-syndrome (SLABS)? callwave is a cool widget to have! :)

Well, I guess it's something you have to live with if you want to keep using the Callwave widget. It could be something inherent in the way the widget works, I don't know if they can create a fix for it. You can try sending them an email :)

Remove Dashboard Kickstart and Address Book should stop opening automatically, even if you have Callwave.

Oh, I presumed deepblue also wanted to keep Dashboard KisckStart :) I personally find Dashboard KickStart indispensable, few things are more annoying to me than having to wait for the widgets to load the first time you try to use Dashboard.

i didn't have dashboard kickstart, but now i do. it's great!

i can live with the addressbook having a life of its own, as long as it's not viral in nature. :) thanks everyone.
