I would like to think that yours is an isolated case, so the likelihood of seeing the exact same issue in a replacement unit (which I assume would be a sealed, brand new unit) is extremely low. Based from experience (as I also have a bit of OCD-ness), once you're aware of that cosmetic issue, you will continue noticing that until you have it fixed. Hopefully, PMC has the same unit in stock so that they can immediately replace your unit.
One of the issues i regularly encountered with my older MBP 13" was the loss of wifi connection even though my unit is literally just inches away from the router. The issue is magnified when my MBP is connected to various cables, forcing me to buy a USB-C dongle with an Ethernet jack. With the 14" MBP, I haven't encountered the same issue so far.
For those wondering whether the M1 Pro MBP's HDMI port supports higher refresh rates (i.e., >60Hz) for high-resolution monitors (i.e., >1080p): yes, it does! With my older 2018 MBP 13", I needed to use a USB-C to DisplayPort cable to unlock the 144Hz refresh rate @ 1440p native resolution of my external monitor (Asus TUF VGAQL1A); I tried two different USB-C to HDMI adapters but only managed to reach 60Hz @ the same resolution. Now, I can just use any HDMI cable (I am actually using the HDMI cable that came with the monitor) to get 144Hz @ 1440p.
Yep, that is on account of the HDMI 2.0 video bandwidth which supports 4K @ 60Hz, 1440p @ 144Hz and 1080p @ 240Hz.

Have you guys gotten applecare for your macbooks? I bought one for my air years ago but was not able to really use it as I did not encounter any issues despite travelling around with it. Want to get once for my mbp just in case but not sure if I really need it. Also, did you guys opt to get the yearly or one time plan?
personally, i think having AppleCare is highly recommended for the reason of protecting the investment. my MBP 2018 battery capacity is below 80% which is below the acceptable threshold (within standard 1 year warranty or 3 years if on AppleCare). Not just that but i'm going to get new a new display because there is a stain like the "staingate" issue on 2015 but not as bad as those model. now question is, adding appleCare must be done within a year or from the date of purchase + 3 months? i cant remember if i bought AppleCare w/in 3 months or 12 months.
I recommend you do. I've had 3 of the newer MBP's post 2016 redesign, and in each one I've had to claim warranty. They're not as reliable as the pre 2016 designs. Issues I've had to claim warranty for were logic board, keyboard, touch bar, battery, and screen. I'm hopeful this new redesign will be less problematic, but until proven otherwise, I recommend purchasing Apple Care if you plan to keep the unit for a while.
I recently got AppleCare for my 14" MBP from Senco Link. The process was very fast: I bought the extended warranty in the morning, my MBP (through About This Mac > Support) already reflected the extended warranty in the afternoon, then the following day when I checked my MBP's serial number in Apple's Check Warranty Status portal the extended warranty support is already updated! Re: yearly vs one time plan, i don't think the former is already available here in the Philippines, as we are limited to purchasing the extended warranty once only (i.e., extending to three years the warranty coverage). My understanding is for the standard AppleCare coverage, we can purchase it within one year of buying the MBP. For reference, I bought AppleCare for my older 13" MBP in month 10 of my ownership. For AppleCare+ though (which I believe is only available in Singapore as of the moment) you have to purchase the extended warranty 60 days from buying the MBP. My only issue with buying AppleCare here in the Philippines is that you have to go to a physical store/service center to purchase the extended warranty. I spent 20-30 mins before looking at Apple PH's website if I could purchase it online, but apparently you can only buy it online when bundle with your MBP at checkout. +1 to this. My older 13" MBP had 5+ repairs during my almost 3 yrs of ownership (3x keyboard, 2x bottom case cover because the service center kept denting them for reasons unknown, 1x logic board because all of a sudden my MBP decided to not turn on, 1x display). I tried asking Apple if they could give me a brand new unit as I kept sending my MBP to the service center but they kept telling me to have the unit repaired. I'm also crossing my fingers that the redesign is a lot more durable/less problematic.

Yes, I paid for a 3-year AppleCare+ plan for my MBP 14 which includes coverage for 2 incidents of accidental damage per yer. I'm usually quite careful with my tech equipment but with kids in the house, you can never tell. As they say, better to have, and not need, than to need, and not have.
Thanks for everyone's input! I get the option of yearly renewal because my apple ID US based but I'm planning to go the one time payment as its cheaper. I've had it for years and haven't really changed it. I just load it up and its good to go.
I think it's the usual AppleCare that's available to us here in the Philippines. In select countries, you're able to get AppleCare+ which, as @Boddhisatva said, gives you coverage for accidental damage subject to a payment of a minimal fee but you have to get it within 60 days of the hardware's purchase. I'm actually surprised that the cost of AppleCare hasn't went up with the 14/16 MBPs. I think you can purchase AppleCare from most local Apple premium resellers/service centers.
i remember the applecare must be specific to macbook. so the same applecare can be used for the 14/16? haha dont jinx the cost of applecare haha
Hahahaha what i meant was, yes, there's a specific AppleCare for the 14"/16" MBPs, but the cost remains the same as the previous gen MBPs (13"/16"). Before you buy AppleCare, they will ask for your unit's serial number to confirm the right AppleCare for you. For reference, here's the current AppleCare pricing for both Intel and M1 MBPs: I was also surprised to see that Apple didn't jack up AppleCare pricing.
