    Any idea when they'll be available locally?

    Would anyone know any resellers selling it already? I know BosJap is already, but it's pretty pricey and it's only for the base model.

    or if anyone is coming from singapore or hong kong, I'm willing to pay for someone to bring it since I REALLY need a new laptop for work and don't want to buy the 15-inch huhu

    Mm...if the price premium is big enough and you seem highly motivated to get the latest MBP from Apple ahead of local launch why don't you just purchase the Apple in HK yourself? Puwede naman leave early in the morning and be back home in the afternoon. That 2 hour flight could be a cheaper and easier option for you.

    I ve done it with headphone purchases a number if times. I get it at cheaper prices, do away with waiting for local availability and hands on test the product itself. Instant gratification.

    ^Sample a hearty HK brunch muna before heading back home (y) That way, you get to enjoy a relaxing moment after the rush of getting the new MBP and then going home to enjoy your new toy.

    Thanks for the advice @raypin & @hitme64 ! Honestly, was thinking about going last friday, but the massive protests in PolyU and the elections in HK this weekend really stopped me from going. If it was Hong Kong this time last year, you bet I would've made a weekend out of it :p I was just in HK for halloween and really do not recommend going at the moment– saw lots of riot gear and a starbucks get smashed in.

    I'd only ever ask someone who was already about to leave hong kong haha

    Is there really a big difference if you buy a Macbook Pro in HK or Singapore compared here in Manila? May I know how much savings if you purchase it there?

    Mm...around 12% cheaper on the base model if purchased in HK or 18k....enough to pay for a round trip economy ticket to HK and a cheap hotel room for an overnight stay.

    For big ticket items, the tax difference is huge and I have to agree on this.

    SG JP and AU have GST refund options as well but HK is the most accessible.

    I was in Tokyo last month.
    From my experience, the website doesn't really reflect the actual stocks that the stores have.
    I wanted a custom configuration that could not get delivered until a week after my return date.
    Same for even if I tried to choose in-store pickup.
    So, I dropped by their store in Ginza instead and, to my pleasant surprise, they had 3 configurations in stock:
    1. base $2399 model (quoting US prices here for baseline reference);
    2. base $2799 model (quoting US prices here for baseline reference);
    3. the custom configuration I wanted but with higher SSD capacity and processor speed
    Unfortunately I did not have time to check if stores in other locations would have a different #3 set up.
    I bought #3 right then and there.
    :D

    My recommendation to you is to check as many stores as you can if you are interested in a particular custom configuration.

    I may have spent a bit more than what I was hoping for, but it is still so worth it...

    Hi! Quick question. When buying a Macbook Pro in Japan, do they have units with a US keyboard as an option to purchase, or is it all the Japanese keyboard layout?

    I was planning to get a MBP 13 while I was in Shinjuku last month, but I assumed that all of their laptops on sale had Japanese keyboards, so I didn’t bother asking anymore.

    If you get it from Apple Stores in Japan, you can ask for a US keyboard model. If you decide to get it from other stores like Yodobashi or Bic, they might not be always available.

    Thank you for clarifying this! When the new 13/14incher with the butterfly keyboard comes out, looks like I'll be back into the land of the rising sun. (y)

    They ask you if you prefer to get the English keyboard layout, which I did.
