Hi guys, can I use the new MacBook Air for app development? I currently have a MacBook Pro that I bought in 2012 but XCode and the Simulator are slow to load. Is switching to Air a good idea for me?

    Thanks in advance :)

Since you are using Macbook 2012 it is recommended to upgrade it to SSD. I've been developing web and mobile apps and I agree with you that xCode is really so slow and if you include Android Studio. In terms of Macbook AIR, it is capable but I prefer Macbook Pro the newer version.

Thank you so much for your reply. Ok so I will opt for an SSD, how much RAM do you think I would need? I currently have only 4GB and I'm pretty sure it's one of the main reasons why my Macbook Pro is slow to load the dev apps.

4gb is quite tight make it like 8gb of rams then you are good to go.
