Visit the site below to check if your Macbook Pro is eligible. Affected units were sold primarily between September 2015 and February 2017. https://support.apple.com/15-inch-macbook-pro-battery-recall Unluckily mine is not.
Lifted this from the Verge. And yes, my machine is eligible. damn. "The bad news: You’ll need to send your MacBook to one of Apple’s repair centers, and the company’s estimating the fix could take one to two weeks. That’s quite a while, particularly if you need that machine for work." https://www.theverge.com/2019/6/20/...pKZdKtMyMU8Vg34kdu08QKd0pSFXOXdf__7fRfG96VHVE
I wonder how will the airport implement this... will owners have to surrender their serial numbers upon check-in? The FAA has banned recalled MacBook Pros from all flights — like any other bad battery | The Verge
And travel just got tougher for those having this battery issue. Has anyone with the same case been able to have their battery replaced thru Apple Store or Apple Authorized Serviced Center? Which of the two options is faster? Been trying my luck with Apple Store but always get prompted with the usual 9 working days.
Actually... My concern is how will airport authorities handle this... I remember the Note 7 issue where the airports just kept flashing reminders for passengers not to carry the phone onboard To a regular person, all MacBooks look the same!
^ made attempts but always get the standard 9-day replacement period in both apple stores here in singapore. at most, i already had my machine go through the diagnostic tests in the apple store in jewel at changi airport and so far all, i'm told that all components are healthy. i'm yet to check the other authorized service centers here, hoping that the turnaround time would be favorable. with the advice given by the geniuses, i'm on the verge of securing a new mac so my work remains uninterrupted while the machine is getting serviced and will return it with full refund after the faulty battery is replaced. hassle but i'm almost left with no choice anymore.
Gez, and you think it could not get any worse. This generation of Macbook Pro line is quite a troubled laptop!
