    I have been using a Mac Pro to transfer videos using a firewire 400 cable. Now i'll be on mobile so I'll need a cable that can fit on my Unibody Macbook Pro that only has firewire 800 port. Tried searching the net but can't seem to find one. My camera is a Panasonic P2 so the plug is a standard 1394.

    Anyone knows where I can buy one? I need it TOMORROW. :eek:

    Digital Hub is selling an adapter for Firewire 400 to 800. I think the brand is Moshi. It's priced around 800ish if I remember it correctly. Better give them a call first to be sure that they have it in stock.

    HTH!

    The cable that you are looking for can be bought through the different computer stores here in the country ...
    Try looking for one at CDR King ... some external hard drives have an adaptor included in the box ...

    i don't think people understand what you need. you need a 1394-to-FW800 cable.
    if you shop, and people don't recognize "1394", try asking for i.link, which is what sony branded it.

    if you can't find the cable above, you're going to need three things:
    1) 4-pin i.link/1394 to firewire 400 cable;
    2) firewire 400-800 adapter;
    3) firewire 800 cable;

    hope this helps. good luck finding these. :)

    I found an ilink cable, generic china knockoff, being sold 2 years ago in one of the stores at the 2nd floor of the Gilmore IT center, might be the one called "smile" corporation or something like that. Only 150 pesos. Use the FireWire 400 plug at one end with the FireWire 400-800 adaptor and you can connect your videocam to your mobile mac.

    The correct term there is Firewire 800 to Firewire 400 4pin.
    Here are your options

    If you go the route na mahal, you can get that at Digital Hub and buy the Firewire 800 to 400 adaptor. But that adaptor is 400 6pin used for hard drives, big decks, etc...

    Next you will need a cable that will connect your Moshi Firewire 800 to 400 adaptor to your camera. This cable is called FIrewire 400 6pin to 4pin.

    Then you can connect your camera already.

    The alternative route is hunt for a Firewire 800 to Firewire 400 4pin one piece cable. This can be in greenhills, cdrking, or at HMR.

    Good hunting

    Thanks to all those who've replied! Case closed! :D Got one after my trip though. :(

    What I got is a Firewire 400 (4 pin) to a Firewire 800 (9 pin) single cable from Ynzal for 750 Pesos. Exactly like the one posted by Rbenzon -- 1394-to-FW800 cable. Thanks sir :)

    That product isn't posted on their website though.

    Saw this at Ynzal as well. Much cheaper option; sold for 500 Pesos only. But I opted for a single cable to make things simpler. Hehe

    Thanks for this sir. I called them up but unfortunately it's out of stock. But it's good to know they have this as well.

    Anyway, appreciated the help muggers! :)

    Have you checked Octagon Stores? - they should have this. - I dropped by Octagon Megamall a couple of days ago and I think I saw one - Manhattan Brand.
