Anyone watching this series? It's just on its first season but I find it quite enjoyable. Some have described as Sopranos meet Lord of the Rings. I've never watched the Sopranos but if this is any indication, I might watch that next.

This series has me hooked. Right from the start, you are introduced to the characters and slowly you learn of their backstories. They are all so interesting. I especially liked the "Imp". He steals every scene he's in.

Has anyone else tried watching this? I highly recommend it.

It's a good series and a faithful adaptation of the first book of George R. R. Martin's book series. If you want more of the story, I suggest you pick up the books. :)

I read a few reviews saying that there are a lot of omissions but I'm not much of a book reader. I might still try reading though since I sometimes find it hard to follow the dialogue. So much is happening per episode and I read also that 1 season is equivalent to one book.

Subtitles, friend! My favorite kingdom is Dothraki. I like listening to their language - like gargling with glass shards while talking, haha!

Well, I don't have subtitles available but yes that would help a lot :)

Dothraki remind me so much of the Klingons. I heard that the producers actually hired someone to create that Dothraki language with grammar and other nuances. Incredible!

By the way, me & my friends in the States who are fans of the show and the book series came up with a Game of Thrones drinking game.

    Take a shot every time:
    1) The word "Bast--d" is spoken
    2) The word "imp" is spoken
    3) Viserys Targaryen insults the Dothraki

    :p

I just finished 7th episode. Man, I'm hooked. I've read only maybe one or two books in my life. I might make this part of my short list :)

By the way for those watching, this guide will be very helpful in keeping track of things

how is the blood and gore in this one? similar with spartacus, or more troy/lord of the rings-ish

    Re: [HBO] Game of Thrones

I haven't watched Spartacus but it (Game of Thrones) is more gory than Troy or LOTR.

**slight spoliers** There is a jousting scene when one knight had a piece of a wooden lance thrust in his neck and he was gushing blood like a faucet **end spoliers**

There is also full nudity in some scenes so this is definitely not for kids.

Gore isn't as bad as Spartacus but there is a lot of sex. It would be very uncomfortable watching this series with kids around.

Yes the sex scenes are kind of weird to watch, specially if its the twins. Its the totally creepy aspect of this series for me.

Incest? Put it in context: this is the medieval period and a fantasy story to boot.
