Strange that they changed their policy. My staff at work unlocked both a Globe and Smart locked iPhone on postpaid plans. This was back in early 2015 btw.
You may want to call their hotline. I doubt the admin of SmartCares really know the policy about Apple iPhones. Note that Smart's Customer Service for iPhones is a different group than the Smart CS that handles all calls.
I hope you are still right, Rolly! I will email some of my friends in Smart. Much as I hate going thru 'connections' for standard services that ought to be rendered, sometimes that's what it takes to get something done. Business, Philippine-style!
All this security vulnerability if jail broken are hot air. It's perfectly safe and there's no way you will brick your iPhone. You're missing half of your life if your phone is not jailbroken. You'll realized stock iPhone is boring,drab and listless
