I hope number portability is already up and running by the time DITTO starts offering their services. I am planning to switch just to protest Smart/Globe’s duopoly of the industry.
Mmm....MNP IRR took effect July 2, 2019 and Teĺcos were granted 6 months to fully implement it. MNP should have taken effect January 2020. Dapat nag aacept na sila ng application requests from subscribers by now.
They're still optimizing their network plans and packages. Globe and Smart are starting to offer unli calls and texts to all networks starting with their SME division. That way, we have worry-free calls once porting is available. Basically, they are making most of their money from data now.

^ I don't find that reassuring but that's just me. Why even bother, I noticed, most people don't really care about national security as long as there's a third player that supposedly makes for competition that's beneficial to the consumer.
I'm pretty sure "protect the motherland" is not the main reason ex-military types were hired into the company. It's like when Lucio Tan hired ex-military types to be figureheads in Fortune Tobacco when the BIR was after him..... or our current president and past president GMA giving plum government positions to ex-generals. Sinister minds are running the show here, so this move is no surprise.
VisMin first up on March 8 for DITO, yay. Let's see how it goes, I'm excited about their mobile plans though.
I think in terms of network coverage it will take a few years before it comes into parity with Globe or Smart. So if you are renewing your postpaid mobile # in 2021 I would do so and switch network by 2023. Last thing you want happening is being on DITO then having to rely on Wi-Fi calling when there is no signal in other places.
Honestly, I'm not expecting DITO to catch-up with Globe and Smart/PLDT, I'm even expecting it to be bought out later... But just like SUN which was a game changer when it was released, I'm hoping DITO can change local mobile internet pricing. PLDT exec downplays DITO Telecommunity's presence in telco industry | CNN
Their launch promo pricing is out. P199 for unlimited data and unlimited calls and SMS to Dito for a month. Globe, through GOMO, has seemingly countered already w/ a Visayas-Mindanao exclusive P199 monthly unlimited data offer (no calls/SMS).
Dito & Gomo (Globe) have 199/month unlimited 5Mbps prepaid SIMs. What will be PLDT/Smart/Sun/TnT's counter punch? Look like TEL's in it for a fight. TEL's share price will decline from 1299 to 900-100/share by 2023.
