Hi! I just bought a Apple Watch Series 5 40mm from Amazon US and tried to activate the ECG app with my Globe-issued iPhone 7 with iOS 13.1.2. When putting in the birthday to activate the ECG app the setup says that "The ECG app is not available in your region." How do I get around this issue?
Mm...you need to go to an ecg country to activate it. Nearest is HK. Apple verifies your physical location via the active sim you are using and VPNs do not work. There's a jailbreak workaround but jb talk not allowed per forum rules.

A short layover is more than sufficient time to activate your ecg. You just need globe or smart roaming on. You ll still be traveling west so hindi hassle.
Was in Macau over the weekend and I tried to activate it there, I still got "The ECG app is not avaiable in your region" error. Tried also changing my region to Macau, nothing worked. My AW5 was purchased in SG.
In the USA it’s not an issue, even if you use a non-US Apple ID. In Europe, you have to use a US, British, Swiss, German, and 19 other countries with Apple IDs to activate the ECG app. I had activated a new SS AW5 with a local Apple ID here in Europe and a US Apple ID for an AW4 for my wife. This dispels some of the issues about unsuccessfully using a Philippine Apple ID in an ECG country. So far mine has been working since Sunday when I got here in Bern, and until today, when we fly to Antwerp it will still be working.
Mm....one philmugger here said that he was able to activate his Apple watch on his globe on roaming when he visited singapore. My recollection is the Watch was purchased in the PH. Mm...is your Apple ID USA from the very start? From my end, here’s my full experience with ecg activation: 1. My iTunes ID/Apple ID created in 2008, is USA, funded with iTunes gift card. 2. My iTunes store region has always been USA. 3. Shortly after Watch Series 4 launch in 2018, Apple allowed ecg activation outside of USA for as long as the Watch was bought in the USA. I purchased the Watch Series 4 from Walmart and had it shipped to Manila. Was able to successfully activate ecg here. Restoring the Watch to factory default by unpairing and then pairing it again using my Apple ID will not deactivate Ecg. Unpairing and pairing the same Watch with an iPhone using a different Apple ID will deactivate ECG and there is no way to reactivate ecg locally. 4. I bought my iPhone 11 Pro Max in HK last October. Using a HK CSL prepaid sim as the active line, I restored my data from iCloud. The following day, I purchased my Watch Series 5, also in HK. I paired it with my iPhone 11 Pro Max, still using my CSL as the active line. No issues. ECG activated and remains activated to this day.

Any ideas where I can buy a 40 mm apple watch locally? Tried powermac trinoma but all they have is a 44 mm. I looked online(apple website) but the earliest delivery date is January 17, 2020 which is too late since this is supposedly a christmas gift for my wife.
For the brave ones, try V-Mall stalls for Apple Watch Series 5s sold in limited quantities. Can’t say I told you but if you really want to, then go ahead. Don’t expect reseller warranties though. Some are just glad they got one, or two. Price is 18K+ for aluminum models. No titanium or stainless steel around. Ok, go.

I was able to purchase a 40mm gold aluminum in Powermac Power Plant Mall. make sure you insist to check their inventory as the first guy I asked said they do not have stock. I went to the cashier and she checked their stock room and was able to find one. Apparently it’s a new delivery and first guy didn’t know about it.
