As I recall from memory (I was surprised that the process was roughly 15 minutes in total), they asked for the AirPods. Then they did a visual inspection and wiping. Then they paired the unit with their service iOS device. They replaced the ear tips with their service one, then the staff placed it in their ears. I think the service device has a "sound quality testing mode" since the staff noticed that the left one has static issues as well even if I've only noticed it on the right one. The staff also did some tapping of the Airpods (which I do as well since that's when the static and pops occur as well). Then they asked me to fill out a form for the service. They mentioned that there will be succeeding checks after that ( I think, it is just to see whether it has liquid/other damages aside from the static issues).
Thanks for the details. I can replicate that on my right airpod but not on my left. Is it possible for them to also replace both?
Yup, as long as you have warranty. Took mine to Switch, before the warranty expires, coz there’s a static sound when listening to music. Took 3 weeks for the replacement to arrive. Same case, serial number, but the ear piece were both replaced.
Update: I messaged QCD Tech this afternoon, a week after I brought my APP for the sound issues. I was informed that the static sounds were present on both earpods and they are eligible for replacement. Turnaround time is about 3-4weeks. Ang tagaaal but at least they’re replacing them. Kinda missing them though. My life is not the same without the APP especially when the workmates are chatting loudly.
Mine is out of warranty but they are eligible for replacement since there is a service program for the APP. I was not required to present the invoice. I told them I got it as a gift.
Went to PMC yesterday to have my airpods checked for the static sound. They called me this morning and said they will replace both but will have to wait 3-4 weeks for the replacement to arrive.
Update: Just got my APP from QCD Tech. They replaced both ear-pods and gave extra tips. Airpods now work as expected. ANC is back, bass is back, and no more static/crackling sounds. One thing ai have noticed is that the black part that has a mesh on the outer side of the airpods is now smoother compared with my original ones. Also, I got them on the case, not in the box as shown from tech vlogs I saw on YT. Wondering also why they installed the M tips on, they tested it perhaps?
Yes, I think they test it as well before giving it to you. Mine also had the new eartips attached when I got it back from mobilecare. They also said that the each airpod has a 90 day warranty.
Managed to snag a pair of these during the CNY sale. I don't know how you guys would rate this pair but the ANC is just a godsend for someone who walks to work and uses Zoom a lot. Convenience during use is, needless to say, exceptional. Cheers
Apple updates firmware of Airpods Pro & Airpods 2 to version 3E751. Apple Updates AirPods Pro and AirPods 2 Firmware to Version 3E751
No changes that I've noticed in SQ, but it switches more reliably now between my devices. (~80% better than the previous firmware)
Good to know. It's annoying when it would always want to connect to my iPhone when I'm using it on my Mac.
