I'm ashamed to say that it was only today that I've actually experience the call quality through VoLTE when I called my Dad. I have been extensively using Teams or Viber to call people in recent months and the only time I had to make a mobile call, they're mostly people who presumably didn't have VoLTE yet. Anyway, I noticed immediately that the call was different. Starting with how quick the call came through. 2nd, the ringback. It wasn't the typical Globe ringback of "ring-ring, ring-ring". Rather, it was like you're calling a Smart number... the ringback was like a series of long tones. And when my Dad answered, you could hear a significant increase in sound quality. Anyway, I'm using an old Galaxy S8+ while my Dad has a new Galaxy S20.
Anyone here who received Globe’s latest update on VoLTE for iPhone? They sent out an advisory to whitelisted postpaid numbers earlier.
Received the notification from Globe this afternoon and my iPhone is now showing "LTE, VoLTE On" under Cellular Data Options.
That’s just the toggle. The place to check whether VoLTE is really active would be in Settings > General > About. Scroll down, and then tap “Carrier” or the version number. It should change to IMS Status. You should see “Voice & SMS” just like in the screenshot below. By the way, what plan are you on? I’m so bummed that I wasn’t selected for the testing lol.
Yes, saw a text advisory from globe. And yeah, I touched the carrier menu and it shows "Voice & SMS". It finally works I wonder if VoWifi works as well as I have not tested it yet. Hope you get to be whitelisted soon too!
Im using an HK dual sim model unit and touching the carrier does not change the display to Voice & SMS.
No WiFi Calling for iPhone on Globe yet. Yeah, I’m hoping to be included or that they start a wider rollout soon. Not sure how common this is, but as long as your VoLTE calls and SMS are working, it’s all good. Did you receive Globe’s text? What carrier version are you on? You must be on Globe 41.1 and be targeted for their testing.
I wonder how they choose who will get VoLTE. I’m on Platinum account and I haven’t received a text, while my wife who is on a regular Globe account got one.
I got a message the other day. it said, carrier settings upgrade. I'm on Globe 41.1 & platinum. I didn't know what the hell it was. Now thanks to this post, I know. ha ha.
lucky me - either my corporate SIM or my (grandfathered) thePlan Plus 799 triggered this for me. i am able to switch it on without warnings, and tapping the carrier shows both items. the bad news - LTE signal here at my place is pretty much non-existent. i finally decided to complain about this (once tailend of 2018, and another 1 month ago), but no dice. i'm more interested in voWifi which my SMART-toting brother managed to get without being part of the premium tier or using a shortlisted device.
i did get provisioning of VoLTE, but it messed up my connection. Not only is it not working for me despite being provisioned this VoLTE, worse is that people trying to call me gets a voice prompt, “the number you dialed is incorrect.” this is now being looked into by globe tech though.
To everyone: Could you mention which smartphone you are using that was activated for VoLTE & VoWiFi whether it be Android or iPhone? I ask this as Philmug is an Apple user group with members using Mac, iPad and iPhone
Galaxy S8+ But I think they already turned off VoLTE. Not sure when it happened but the VoLTE icon next to the signal bars ain't showing up (VoLTE is turned ON on my phone). I think it went out about the same time my AirBoost stopped working (again), but that could've been just a coincidence. I never got a taste of VoWiFi.
