Is the new built-in battery for the new MBP a good upgrade or a bad one? I just bought a Macbook unibody a couple of weeks ago before they introduce the new MBP with built-in battery. I'm planning to return the MB and exchange it with MBP.
I don't think you can just return your MB and exchange it with a MBP. If your unit is defective, then that's the only way you can return it but you'll just get another MB instead of an MBP. But to answer your first question, of course it's a good upgrade. Especially if you travel a lot coz of the 8 hours battery life as opposed to 5 hours.
My MB only last for 3 hours. I bought it here in the US. There's a return date in the reciept, but they're gonna slash 10% off the original price if the box is already open.
did you buy the 2.0 or 2.4 Ghz? if you bought the 2.4, why not just max out its specs? cos it's still a bit higher than the 2.26 and not that far from the 2.56 (is it? not sure), it has a backlit keyboard, and the same memory as the higher end MBP. from what i've been reading and hearing, apple doesn't exchange units for the newer one, even if you just bought them.
Bought the 2.4 with illuminated keyboard. Just returned the MB and got my refund then I purchased a MBP. I also got a $100 back because the MBP is $100 cheeper than the MB.
i found my mbp 13"'s battery meter to give me only 3:50 of power.. of course i've never really actually tested it to full drain, actually till now it's still at 0 cycles. hahaha! congrats on your successful upgrade!
I wish it were that easy to exchange goods here in Pinas... especially when it comes to big purchases like a Mac. blehhh.
wow good for you! im in the same situation. my mom just arrived from the states & she bought a macbook aluminum a few days before the launch of the new mbp. i doubt it if i could replace the macbook aluminum w/ the new mbp here in the philippines. i guess i would just sell it & get myself the new mbp hehe
i don't like it... i still prefer that i can change to new batteries on my own. two word, battery-recall.
well you can actually take the battery out of the macbook, it's fairly easy but you have to take out the bottom cover lang.
@ruff, it arrived here in davao last wednesday (17th) from apple store ph they say it is but it's hard to find.
Will it void the warranty if you do it yourself? And I also bought the new MBP with educational discount and that's another $100 off.
Great customer service talaga sa US you can refund pag hindi ka satisfied sa product na nabili mo not like in here in our country ang daming conditions. Always favorable sa negosyante bill of rights are not that much practiced here. Good for you ingge you saved a lot of money especially in time of financial turmoil.
OT: @Skint: It really depends on the company's policy when it comes for returns. Some places will give you your money back. Others will give you credit amounting to the price you paid towards something else. But usually on sale items are final.
