    Hi guys! I am thinking of replacing my 8-yr old MBP, but not sure if I should get a 2018 MBA or the 2018 MBP with Touch Bar.

    I used to be a heavy user back in Uni, video editing ++ but now that I am working, I just simply stream, listen ot music, download songs and torrents. Do you think that a 2018 MBA is enough? I am also concerned on the price difference.

    Thanks!

    MBA ka na lang. Since your not using it heavily, sayang lang ang extra power ng MBP.

    Even you use it heavily for video editing (iMovie), the MBA should be ok - although slower than the Pro.

    I'd actually get the best of both worlds: the MBP non-touch bar (and use the money saved from not getting the touch bar version to upgrade the RAM to 16GB).
    The footprint on both isn't that much different and the MBP isn't that much thicker save on the lid's side in comparison with the MBA. This has something to do with having that extra grunt in case you ever need it, rather than longing for it when you actually need it.

    @OP

    for just those tasks you mentioned, you DO NOT even have to upgrade your 8-year old MBP. :)

    Or if you haven't done it already, increase/max out the RAM, change the hard disk to SSD, and perhaps replace the battery with a new one, and you're good to go!

    MBP Non-Touch for future proof.

    Yeah, we those tasks you don’t have to replace it. Upgrade to SSD and max out RAM. But if ever you really want to buy a new one, my votes goes to MBP non touch bar.

    I'd stay away from the non-touch bar MBP until they update the keyboard. The new MBA with an upgraded RAM would be great.

    Good evening sir, just a noob here. I'm very interested in upgrading my MBP mid '12' s RAM. As far as I can recall I can only upgrade my unit up to 8gb only.

    Is there anyone here who can assist me with this? Thank you.

    Hello. Care to post sources where we can purchase SSDs and replacement battery for a 2014 15-inch MBP?

    For my 2011 13inch MBP which my son now uses for schoolwork, I had the SSD upgrade and battery replacement done by Ynzal: http://ynzal.com.
