Just wondering... My Photos and iMovie library are both stored in an old external hard drive (USB-A). I'm also using an inexpensive USB-C Hub on my Macbook Pro... I'm honestly NOT very happy with the speed of my Photos and iMovie... Will the speed improve if I use a more modern USB-C Hard Drive/SSD for my libraries?
I replaced my old external hard drive with an external ssd. And oh boy it is significantly faster but also significantly more expensive!
Thanks... I was just afraid of spending hundreds of $$$ for a new external USB-C SSD and not get any improvement .
Any SSD whether SATA or PCIe will be faster than HDD. As a stop gap a SATA SSD may be the ideal compromise unless you routinely transfer TB of data.

Need inputs, i have a mid-2012 Retina 15inch mbp. Is it worth to upgrade now? Or wait for next year’s?
Macbook Pro is 126 days old (as of today) I'm sure a new model will be available by middle of 2019 (before the back to school promotion) There will always be a better model next year (Apple might even give the Macbook Pro Escape a processor upgrade) So if you really need a new laptop now, I can see the 2018 Macbook Pro to last a reasonable time.
Bought this one today at shopee. Hopefully it can save my MacBook from accidents. Baseus Type C To Type-C Magnetic Elbow Adapter For Macbook
16.5"? This is something I really cannot understand from Apple's perspective, why they keep releasing Products against Global Classification Standard?
Apple sets the standards! - haven't you noticed most notebooks these days? - kulang na lang lagyan ng Apple Logo eh = specially Dell.
I could not see the Apple likeness in Dell’s flagship notebook, the XPS 15. Anyhow I hope this year faceid would come to the macbooks, it just makes perfect sense there.
As long as MacBooks remain what they are, meaning true-blue laptops, while the rest of the industry cater to 2-in-1s because, well consumers want it that way, Apple will only be that niche in the market for expensive, non-conformist products, but why not join the trend all the way? I don’t see a reason why it will come up with a 16.5 MBP when other companies are shrinking theirs, unless it’s something Apple hasn’t yet done before: a true gaming laptop (but hey, why not?).
hi sir, how's this adapter holding up with use? would really like to know your experience with it. also, does it support data transfer too or just power delivery? thanks in advance!
hi guys. can’t afford to back read. i was just wondering what’s the best usb type c hub for the macbook pro? can you share what you guys are using
Satechi and Hyperdrive. A bit expensive but quality is very good. For cheaper options, try UGreen or Baseus usb-c hub. Just search it in Shopee or Lazada.
