I am using Yamaha YSP-5100 with B&W sub in my other room (library). The sound is incredible and can mimic 5.1 surround sound if set-up properly in a room. Cheers.

check out polk & golden ear products. know that there are active & passive sound bars. i reckon from your post that what you want is an active one. happy auditioning. i've always recommended LMK (happy customer here).

Still, I prefer loudspeakers. The sound is immensely great with these huge boxes but the curiosity in me strikes to try how do sound bars perform and sound.

I can say that if you have small space, having the sound bar is the best option. There are a lot of option and models nowadays from cheap to the high end. I have the Apple TV connected to it. It's exciting with that set-up.

i saw at the sights n sounds fb page polk sound bars. i did some research about it and mostly found good reviews. one caveat some have about it is the lack of hdmi input. is that a big factor?

Hi Addigital. They're good, really good. Just have the sub next to it and you'll be amazed. To be honest, I am really satisfied. I rarely use the loudspeakers cause my wife really hates the pounding of loud, deep bang out of it hehe. Sound bars are more softer but still you'll have a lot of options with it's numerous pre-sets.

I just oust love the simplicity of it. Just plug and play. No more thick cables or huge amplifiers.

I have the Polk SurroundBar 9000 IHT (about P45k at S&S) with accompanying wireless sub. It's a great sound system for my 50-in HD Plasma in the family room.

I like its dual optical digital inputs. It does not need an HDMI because it gets the digital sound directly from Blu-Ray player via Toslink, instead of via the TV's HDMI pass-through where the audio may be degraded.

whoa! that harman kardon soundbar looks elegant! wonder how its performance is.

a lot has been giving the jbl sb 400 rave reviews. i have a couple of articles of possible "lip synching" issues about it? that's kinda worrisome.

If you want the 5.1 effect then the sound bar is not for you. I have a Polk Audio 6000 in the living room but transferred this to our bedroom. The 3D surround doesn't work well in an open space.

Harman and JBL are owned by the same company. So their quality/reliability, after-sales support, etc., are similar. HK is consumer-only, whereas JBL has consumer products but has a bigger catalog of professional products, which is why you'll see concerts powered by JBL, but not HK.

My brother's shop, Architectural Audio, sells JBL, HK, Polk Audio, Sonos, etc. For pricing and availability, click the link. My bro knows more about home theater and audiophile systems. I am more familiar with pro gear, the stuff recording engineers use so your soundbars won't have to be fed garbage. ;)

For discounts, you need my DNA, which you may have if you resemble Megan Young or better. ;)
