@soulspain013: As someone who used to commute on the MRT daily, if you want to get home you have to force your way in. If you wait until there's a train with room, and you're commuting anywhere from 6-8pm, you'll be waiting a long time. Tips: -Keep your valuables in your front pockets -If you pockets are easily accessible, place you valuables in your bag. -Keep your bag close to your body and with the zippers facing in (i.e. against your body) -Consider listening to your iPod/iPhone while on the MRT. At least if it's taken you'll know immediately as the sound will cut out.

And always stay vigilant when commuting. I always wear my backpack in front of me whenever riding the mrt.

Or you can buy a Taser (Stun gun) for less than 2,000 pesos and scare off anyone who tries to get uncomfortably close to you thus creating your own personal space.
On a serious note though, I rarely ride the MRT but when I do, I put ALL of my stuff in one pocket and keep my hand in there to hold the stuff in. But if my pocket is too small for all the stuff to fit in, what I do is put all of my stuff in one side (in my case, right side) and I use my right hand to constantly check if any of my stuff are still there. I think that way, these dregs will know that you are staying aware. I don't care if the person next to me might think that I'm subtly prejudging him to be a thief. Better safe than sorry. Also having a bag is a big advantage. The more secret/hidden compartments there are, the better. Firstly, the thief wouldn't know where your valuables are. Whether they are somewhere in your pockets (if it's not obviously bakat) or somewhere inside the bag. The thing is, they have to guess where your stuff are. If worse comes to worst their last resort would be to perform a hold-up which we all hope will not happen.

@masterziz
Hope your friend reported this to the MRT Authorities! Remember they are not just for display purposes! ...as towards all the preventive measures, they are all good if not great advise! Even if it's already too late to implement, the always bright side is that one has learned something new in life and be more aware in the future... of course don't be afraid to tell as many loved ones as possible...as they might know evil that lurks in the world we live in...

Funny thing is my iPhone and tickets were in one pocket. So my ticket was stolen as well. And when i told the guard about my stolen phone and tickets, he just told me to buy another ticket. Guess he didn't hear the phone part

Just because you're necessary doesn't mean you're important.
