Used Smartbro in Boracay, signal was decent but if youre used to DSL speeds, better have tons of patience.

UMTS 850 is used in USA by AT&T ah, it is known for better wall penetration, it might be being rolled out by Smart hmmmm.... but most phones that is shipped here are not yet compatible with that band (except iPhone.. hmm...). most USB modem does, so somewhat, smart is differentiating the modem and mobile networks which is good.

SmartBro's slow connection Bora is Given, there are thousands of people in that small island and their only means of quick and easy broadband is well, globe or Smart.

HSDPA is different from UMTS? aarrgghh too many acronyms

HSDPA is a branch of UMTS, it's the evolution of UMTS. (3.5G) kumbaga.

Of course we can't safely say that your area is great or not, it still has other factors like allotted bandwidth and the number of people using the service in your area.

in a way, it is still in the provider's hand if they WILL give you a great service or not so IT IS STILL Provider dependent.

i recently bought a SMART Bro kit and i'm located here in Bulacan. Last speedtest result that I got is 1.46 Mbps.. which i think is good enough..?

smart bro works fine in my place here in iloilo.. i never used globe coz the signal's weak..havent tried the suncell though.. : )
