Organizing an iPhone Dev Camp, Posted 08-16-2008, 01:00 AM #1
Hey folks,

This may appeal to developers. Me and some friends are looking into organizing a community driven whole day iPhone DevCamp (for free) - high bandwidth face to face discussion on building web and native apps for the iPhone/iPod Touch. This would be BarCamp style like the one we will be having on the 21st (www.barcamp.org/BarCampManila). We'll have some iMacs with the SDK installed as well as some tools like Aptana.

The key is for those who have experience doing apps - they can reach out to others and teach the basics, while the rest can actually learn from group dynamics. If not, people can learn at the same time.

Any takers? We're looking into having it around mid-September. It would be organized quickly and we'll probably target some possible sponsors.

we're actually looking for coders to help us develop a fully customizable CRM for the pharmaceutical representatives using the iPhone. i am spearheading this project in our company and i surely welcome a local developers' conference to get things going.

right now, we are stuck with salesforce.com's offer and their software set isn't, in general, that cost effective for us. let's see, after the official introduction of the iPhone 3G this friday, i expect more and more developers to come out with exciting programs.

If you guys are serious about this, I can talk to my Globe friend of mine to get them to sponsor it (maybe get them to fly in some Apple folks!) I bet they'll be interested.

We'll get more stuff going during BarCamp Manila on the 21st.

Getting Globe to sponsor will surely be a given for us- We know some key people there as well as the guys in Globelabs.

Is this open to newbies who want to learn about developing applications for the iPhone?
